With spring around the corner we can look forward to wearing less clothes and lighter colors, de-cluttering our homes, and planning spring break! As we say goodbye to winter (finally!) and welcome longer days and more sunshine (we missed you sun!), it's important to remember that our skincare routine also needs a bit of spring cleaning.
Changing of the seasons can wreak havoc on our skin. But fret not! Below we have created a guideline for how to transition your winter skincare routine into spring, and keep the good vibes flowing all around for a happy face and home in celebration of the arrival of spring.
Spread Good Vibes at Home
You have now cleaned your home, organized your closet, decluttered your bathroom, and opened your windows to let in the fresh crisp spring air. But how do you keep those positive vibes flowing through your home and those that live there?
Using sage in your home or office, or even on your body, is like taking an energetic cleansing shower. Burning sage is an ancient practice used by many ancient civilizations to cleanse their space and the energy field of a person. It is believed any negativity, conflict or anger is absorbed by the sage smoke. The smoke from dried sage actually changes the ionic composition of the air, and can have a direct effect on reducing our stress response.
The smell of sage can be quite strong and pungent for many people so we have created a range of sage infused home and body products blended with verbena bamboo and lime for a lighter refreshing scent. Check out the entire line below:
De-clutter Your Bathroom
No! We don't mean spending your Saturday night scrubbing the grime from your tub until you see your reflection. Spring is a great time to rummage through your beauty products and throw away anything that's expired or you haven't used in a year or more. After about a year active ingredients in products begin to breakdown which diminishes their potency. This also includes ingredients, such as essential oils, found in things like soaps and bath salts, which generally tend to have longer expiry dates than lotions or creams. It's a good rule of thumb to use your products within a year or at least refrigerate them so they last longer.
It's also a great time to clean your makeup brushes and replace old ones. This includes replacing makeup tools like beauty blenders, shower sponges and exfoliating brush heads - for example if you own a Clarisonic. Keeping these items clean and sanitized means less breakouts or irritations to your skin.
Exfoliate Dry Skin Away
Dry skin is the bane of our existence during those harsh cold winter months. With the warmer weather, spring is a great time to remove any dry skin patches left over from winter on our face and bodies. Exfoliating followed by moisturizing with an oil-based serum or moisturizer is key to removing dry skin, and keeping your skin healthy and moisturized.
For the body, we recommend checking out our Get Up & Glow Body Scrub formulated with mineral-rich Dead Sea Salt for a deep exfoliation, chamomile powder to soothe skin and calm redness, and coconut oil to restore moisture. For the face, we recommend our Ambrosia Luxury Face & Body Scrub, which contains a combination of anti-aging oils (Abyssinian Seed Oil), alpha hydroxy acids (Bromelain Powder), Himalayan pink salt, pumice powder, beet root powder, and rhubarb powder to remove dead skin and restore moisture and nutrients to the skin.
Get Pretty Legs and Feet
No one wants to be walking around wearing a pretty flowing dress and have dry scaly skin on their arms and legs. Shaving creams can be very drying, leaving your skin razor burned and irritated. Alternatively, waxing can cause in-grown hairs, red bumps and redness.
For a smooth shave that will leave your skin soft and moisturized try our Amazing Shaving Soap For Woman. Formulated with an incredible amount of cocoa butter this soap bar creates a super creamy lather that will keep your legs moisturized and won't clog up your razor! Follow with our Amazing After Shave Body Oil For Woman, which contains a blend of moisturizing oils and antiseptic essential oils to prevent irritations caused by shaving.
Warmer weather also means sandal weather. Spring is a great time to book in that long overdue pedicure and show your toes some love. We recommend our Sugar Daddy Mani & Pedi Package, recommended for dry skin and hydrating nails. View our complete Nail Services Menu.
Treat Random breakouts
As your skin adjusts from dryer cooler temperatures to warmer more humid weather, this transition makes it a lot harder for your skin to regulate its moisture levels, which can cause your oil glands to produce more oil leading to breakouts.
We recommend checking out our Bombshell Acne Spot Treatment the go-to product for treating blemishes and breakouts. It contains a potent blend of 16 healing, antiseptic oils and essential oils, which can be applied throughout the day with the roll-on applicator to reduce redness and heal blemishes.
Bring out the best in your skin with our Ultimate Detox Deep Cleansing Facial Powder, a natural enzyme exfoliant that removes acne causing bacteria, dirt, impurities and blackheads. This product will kick your confused skin back into gear. It contains detoxifying bamboo charcoal powder, superfood spirulina power high in antioxidants and vitamins, and Bromelain powder - an alpha hydroxy acid derived from the stems of pineapples and high in Vitamin C for brighter, clearer skin.
Don't Forget Sun Protection
When the warmth of the sun beats down upon us our immediate reaction is to bask in its glory. After a long winter that's a completely normal reaction, but we usually don’t think about protecting our skin from harmful UV Rays until summertime. Contrary to popular belief, UV rays are just as powerful during the winter as they are in the summer, so don't forget to wear sun protection all year round!
For a natural sun protectant try our bestselling Doll Face, a 3-in-one primer, mattifier and UV reflector. Formulated with titanium dioxide, sesame oil and shea butter, all natural ingredients that provide sun protection and suitable to use on sensitive, redness-prone skin. With added silk powder and cornstarch this product will leave you with a matte grease-free finish that absorbs easily into the skin.
We hope these helpful tips and products will help you renew your skincare routine, and direct some positive good vibes into your space and home in celebration of the arrival of spring.
Until next time! xoxo
