Hello fall! Blue and cloudy skies, gorgeous fall colors, a crisp and chill wind...ah yes fall is finally here in Chicago. Even though I love summer days along the lake, I will admit that these past few fall days have been super cozy. I sometimes get a chance to walk around my neighborhood and breathe in all the fall scents of the city. There is one scent that I've been missing out on: bonfires.
Living in the city its a little difficult to get my bonfire on. City permits and apartment living make it VERY difficult to sit cozy by the fire. Now, I can live without this. Really, I can. But the other fall thing I miss more than bonfires? Smores! Roasting those marshmallows and sandwhiching it between two graham crackers, letting the chocolate melt and ooze along with the mallow. So amazing! But, roasting that mallow over my stove or a candle (I've grown desperate don't judge me) gets a little old and inconvenient.
Here's a simple and quick way to get yourself some smores without a) the mess b) the time consuming hassle and c) needing a permit to build a bonfire.
Bake those smores!
This recipe is SO EASY! Delicious smores are on their way!
First line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then line that with graham crackers. (follow the pictures!) Next add your favorite chocolate, I'm using Hersheys because I love the classics. Finally top each with a marshmallow, stick with the normal size here unless you want super melty marshmallows. Pop them into your preheated oven (400 F) and bake for 3 - 5 minutes or until the marshmallows are a toasty golden brown.
Look at how cute and delicious these look! Now once your marshmallows are the appropriate toasty, golden brown color add the rest of the graham crackers on top and gently press down! Don't wait too long to do this, the marshmallows will cool down and make it difficult to smush the whole yummy mess together.
Now you could show some restraint and build a pretty tower of smores for you and your guests to enjoy, or you could be like me and steal a few right now while they're hot! Luckily I saved a few to put these pictures together for you guys. I should get some applause.
Now go make yourself some mess free, hassle free deliciousness!
Until next time! xoxo
